About

Who are dare2tri?
Based in Chicago, Dare2tri is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments through the sport of triathlon. By focusing on swimming, biking, and running, we help people build confidence, foster community, and improve their overall health and wellness.
Since launching in 2011, Dare2tri has become a driving force in the adaptive sports world. We create opportunities for individuals to participate in everything from recreational fitness to elite competition, all within an inclusive and motivating environment where athletes are recognized for their grit, not their limitations.
Whether someone is just getting started or competing at the highest level, Dare2tri provides the tools, training, and encouragement needed to stay active, reach goals, and connect with others. Our programs go beyond sport—transforming lives by strengthening self-belief and promoting well-being.

About Ryan
Ryan became part of the Dare2tri team in February 2020, bringing with him years of hands-on experience as a dedicated volunteer. He was an integral part of Team Fisher, the group responsible for managing logistics and supporting athletes during swim entry and exit at events.
Though his professional background began in mainstream sports, Ryan found his greatest fulfillment in the adaptive sports community. He thrives on supporting athletes across a wide range of abilities and is driven by a deep passion for inclusion and empowerment through sport.
“Working at Dare2tri is incredibly fulfilling," Ryan says. "I get to help people push past barriers, achieve their fitness goals, or experience the joy of riding an adaptive cycle for the very first time. Being part of this community fuels my passion every day—it’s a constant reminder of the power of movement and the importance of making active, healthy living accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.”

Meet the elite team
Dare2tri’s Elite Team represents the pinnacle of adaptive triathlon, with athletes competing at the highest level of the sport—both nationally and internationally. From USA Triathlon-sanctioned races to the World Triathlon (formerly ITU) Championship Series, these athletes regularly line up alongside the best paratriathletes in the world. For many, the ultimate ambition is to earn a spot on Team USA and compete at the Paralympic Games.
Since 2013, Dare2tri has proudly supported Elite Team members in their pursuit of excellence. In addition to personalized coaching, athletes receive critical financial support to help cover the costs of elite-level training and competition.
A cornerstone of this support is the annual Elite Team Camp—an intensive, high-performance training experience that brings together Elite and Development Team members. Held at premier U.S. Paralympic training facilities like the Lakeshore Foundation and the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, the camp delivers world-class coaching, advanced technique development, and a focused environment designed to elevate each athlete’s performance.
