Stars & Stripes Racing Shoot For supertri League Title
Stars & Stripes Racing believe they can not only win supertri League in 2024 but also inspire a nation.
Stars & Stripes have their roots in the US but their team roster, revealed today, shows they are aiming for victory and the fastest route to growing the short course arm of triathlon Stateside.
USA Triahtlon’s Project Podium Head Coach, Parker Spencer, will be managing a team that is a fascinating blend of true US grit and glory, mixed with international flair.
He will welcome three medallists from the Paris Olympics in the shape of US duo Taylor Spivey and Seth Rider, who collected silver medals as part of the USA team in the mixed relay. Tim Hellwig, who was part of Germany’s gold winning effort in the same race, is in the men’s line-up.
The women’s roster is full of experience with Spivey, two-time supertri champion Katie Zaferes and Kirsten Kasper all US stalwarts. They are joined by Swiss athlete Cathia Schar, who also has plenty of supertri races under her belt and is fast improving on the world stage.
The men’s team has two US athletes - Rider and Chase McQueen, another supertri fixture. They are joined by Hellwig and Vasco Vilaca, the Portuguese who finished fifth in Paris.
Parker Spencer has made his ambitions clear. He said: “This is a powerhouse team, and I cannot wait to kick off the season in Boston. Our primary goals for this team are to compete for the overall win and to provide opportunities for the development of the next generation of triathletes. Throughout the season, you will see some younger athletes involved in team meetings and the overall supertri experience as well. This team is full of incredible role models. I believe strongly in this team and feel we have the best team in supertri this season. We have multiple Olympic medalists, supertri World Champions, National Champions, and more.”
