LONDON, UK, MAY 7TH – Following its debut in 2024, Supertri is thrilled to announce Chicago as the first of its 2025 Supertri League locations to be revealed, with the city set to host the world’s premier short-course triathlon racing series on August 23rd.

Building on the momentum of last year’s electric atmosphere and strong community support, this year’s event will take place alongside the Chicago Triathlon. The weekend promises to unite professionals and beginners for an unforgeable celebration of sport and community impact.

Last year, more than 15,000 spectators lined the iconic city course to watch the world’s best triathletes race through the heart of downtown Chicago. With live broadcast coverage in 144 countries and 277 million global TV impressions, Supertri Chicago became one of the most widely viewed triathlon events of the year.

The Chicago Triathlon By Supertri is on a mission to become the world’s largest triathlon. The event reached 7,500 participants in 2024 and is on trend to continue growing this season. From first-timers to seasoned veterans the Chicago Triathlon delivers an accessible, inclusive experience for everyone on the shores of Lake Michigan.

The 2024 event wasn’t just a milestone for the sport - it was a triumph for the city. Supertri’s inaugural Corporate Challenge raised an impressive $55,000 for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, specifically benefiting the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. In total, the event generated more than $425,000 for local charity program partners, demonstrating Supertri’s commitment to making a meaningful dierence in communities.

Michael D’Hulst, CEO and co-founder of Supertri, said: “Chicago truly embraced Supertri last year. From the athletes to the fans, to the incredible work done through our charity partners - this city showed us what triathlon can mean to a community. We can’t wait to be back and are looking forward to revealing what the rest of the 2025 Supertri League will look like - it’s going to be exciting within some new and iconic venues on the map.”

Supertri will again bring its signature fast-paced and inclusive race formats to the streets and shoreline of Chicago. One of the standout features returning this year is the Divvy Bike scheme, which allows participants to use Chicago’s public bike share system to complete the bike leg. This initiative removes one of the biggest barriers to entry - owning a bike - opening up triathlon to a more diverse group of athletes and encouraging participation.

From the Kids Triathlon to Supersprint and Relay options, every athlete has the opportunity to engage in the sport, whether they’re chasing a personal best or just crossing their first finish line.

Last year’s event proved to be a true gateway to triathlon, with 24 percent of athletes participating in their first-ever triathlon and 95 percent indicating they would race again.

The impact was felt across the city, with 91 percent of local aendees expressing pride in Chicago hosting the event. Media coverage was extensive, with all five major TV networks in Chicago covering the event, alongside a total media reach of 444 million in online and print UVM, and 23 million in radio impressions.

With a 90 percent participant satisfaction rate, the return of the Supertri League to Chicago promises another unforgeable weekend that blends elite racing with building a grassroots community.

The remainder of the 2025 Supertri League calendar will be confirmed soon.
