Supertri Returns to Jersey: Stage 3 of the 2025 League Showdown

Post thumbnail description

Sunday 21 September 2025 marks Supertri’s return to the Channel Island of Jersey, the place where the reimagined future of elite triathlon was lived out in full for the first time back in 2017.

What was a one-off event in Jersey that year became a series the following year, as the island hosted races as part of the international series we’re familiar with today in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Now, four years later, Supertri is back in Jersey.

That first weekend eight years ago saw a two-day spectacular take place on the island, with Kristian Blummenfelt and Katie Zaferes taking the honours. This time around, Jersey will host the penultimate stage of the 2025 Supertri League with it all to play for as the athletes jostle to put themselves in the best place possible for the series finale in Toulouse.

Team Standings

Defending champions Crown Racing have some catching up to do as they currently sit in second on 166 points behind Podium Racing who top the table on 174. There’s a larger gap of 45 points back to Brownlee Racing in third on 121, with a further 18 points the difference between Don’s team and last place Stars and Stripes Racing on 103.

A stunning 105 point haul in Chicago rocketed Podium to the top of the table thanks to strong results across the board — including a first and third in the men’s race from Alberto Gonzalez Garcia and John Reed, as well as a women’s race win for Jeanne Lehair which also sees her top the women’s leaderboard. However, Jersey will see a reshuffle, as men’s leader Alberto Gonzalez Garcia is out and unable to defend his position.

Women’s Standings

Lehair’s win in the Windy City added to her fifth-place from the opening round in Toronto to see her sit two points clear of the Supertri dominant force that is Georgia Taylor-Brown. The defending series champion has finished one place behind Lehair in both of the rounds so far and will be hoping to overhaul that deficit in Jersey.

The last time Supertri headed to Jersey in 2021, Taylor-Brown had a dramatic day on her way to finishing second to Jess Learmonth.

As the training partners soared to a majestic lead over the rest of the field, Taylor-Brown crashed but, thanks to the lead the pair had, was able to recover and maintain her place alongside Learmonth at the front.

However, more drama was to come as she would incorrectly follow Learmonth through the short-chute. Realising her mistake, she looped back around to add the distance, hoping this would make amends. It did not. Upon finishing the race, a tearful Taylor-Brown was DQ’d, yet in another twist, later reinstated to leave Jersey with a silver medal.

Hopefully it’ll be a smoother race this time around!

Men’s Standings

The top of the 2025 men’s standings is now wide open, with Alberto Gonzalez Garcia’s absence leaving the door ajar for rivals. Podium’s John Reed (24 points) will look to step up, while Crown’s Tyler Mislawchuk and Ricardo Batista (both on 22 points) are right in the mix.

Expect a tense battle as the men’s field resets without its early leader.

Last time out in Jersey, after an incredibly tight race that chopped and changed, and had its share of drama along the way, Hayden Wilde made a break on the final run only to be reeled in by both Yee and Jonny Brownlee. The British duo running through Wilde coming into the final turn to set up a sprint finish. Brownlee had the edge as they made the turn and set off towards the tape, yet it was Yee who showed his pace and Brownlee his heels to take the win in an adrenaline-raising fashion.

Now the pair of teammates at Brownlee Racing, but do want more of the same? Yes please!

What they’re saying…

Speaking ahead of the 2025 season, Crown Racing’s Chris McCormack commented “It’s good to be back in Jersey and it’s a shame we ever left. The area we race now has the construction work finished and it will look magnificent as a racing course. In my opinion it has been the best venue for Supertri events.”

And it’s not just McCormack who’s looking forward to returning to Jersey, as Team Manager of Brownlee Racing, Tim Don, remarked on the island’s pull for his team: “we're definitely going to be bringing our ‘A game’, especially in Jersey, because that's going to be a big, big home race for us.”

The sentiment between Supertri and the island of Jersey also goes right to the top. Supetri CEO and Co-Founder Michael D’Hulst said of returning this year: “Jersey has always been one of the most iconic stops on the Supertri League calendar, and a place we have always considered to be our spiritual home. The racing is world-class, the backdrop is stunning, and the community is truly invested.”

The action from Supertri League Jersey 2025 will unfold on Sunday 21 September, but what that action will be and the implications for the team and individual standings we’ll wait for with bated breath.

International viewing is available through Warner Bros. Discovery including on TNT+ in the UK and Ireland, HBO Max in the USA, and Eurosport across Europe. The racing will also be available to stream on discovery+.
