supertri athletes give back to the Toulouse community
supertri underlined its commitment to the community of Toulouse with two days of inspirational visits and motivation.
supertri athletes and the leadership team spent time connecting with the local community beginning with a group of six star athletes - including local hero Jeanne Leahir and France’s Paris Olympic bronze medal winner Léo Bergere - visiting Lycée Auzeville High School, where they introduced students to the exciting world of triathlon. Joining them were Katie Zaferes, in her last ever race weekend as a pro, 16-year-old Fanni Szalai proving what is possible at a young age, Pierre Le Corre and Kenji Nener.
The athletes demonstrated the critical skills of transitions, including mounting and dismounting, while explaining the intricacies of triathlon rules. Students had the chance to take part in two fast-paced multi-duathlons (run-bike-run) with timed performances, followed by a final race among the top competitors.
The event ended with a lively Q&A session, allowing the students to interact directly with the athletes, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into their journeys and the sport, as well as get all important autographs and selfies. This visit replicated the success of a similar event in 2022, sparking enthusiasm for triathlon among the youth of Toulouse.
French hero, Olympic gold medallist Cassandre Beaugrand, led a delegation of the country’s stars of Paris including Dorian Coninx, Emma Lombardi and Léonie Periault, as well as supertri CEO and Co-Founder Michael D’hulst on an emotional visit to the Oncopole, Toulouse’s cancer research and treatment hospital. They spent the afternoon visiting treatment units, offering words of encouragement and support to patients and seeing the groundbreaking work being undertaken.
The athletes also held a Q&A session in the hospital’s auditorium, where patients and hospital staff had the opportunity to engage with them directly. The visit was part of supertri’s partnership with Oncopole, aimed at raising awareness and support for cancer research.
Both visits highlight supertri’s commitment to giving back to the local community and making a positive impact beyond the competition. supertri’s presence in Toulouse extended beyond the field of play, reminding everyone that the spirit of sport lies in the ability to bring people together and create meaningful, lasting change.
The highly anticipated supertri Toulouse is set to take place on Sunday - with another day of activations on Saturday including the hugely popular fanzone and athel;ete presentation - this year featuring a big announcement - at Le Place du Capitole.
Over the years, this iconic event has become a centrepiece of the triathlon calendar, celebrated for its fast-paced, tactical racing that brings together the best athletes from around the world. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Toulouse’s city centre, the race attracts passionate crowds who come out in full force, filling the streets with their roaring support.
