Podium Racing First To Unveil supertri League Roster As Olympians Assemble
Podium Racing have unveiled their roster for a supertri League 2024 campaign that will feature 11 Olympic medals from Paris, and are backing a mix of French flair, young talent and raw power to fire them to the Teams title.
Podium boast one of those Olympic medallist in their ranks in the shape of French star Leo Bergere, who took bronze in the men's race in Paris.
Also racing superti League are Cassandre Beaugrand and Alex Yee, who took the individual golds, and will compete for Crown Racing and Brownlee Racing respectively, while Germany’s mixed relay gold medallist, Tim Hellwig, is also racing supertri for the first time with his team to be revealed later this week.
In addition, American mixed relay silver medallists Taylor Spivey and Seth Rider will compete, as well as individual silver winner Hayden Wilde. Bronze medallists include Beth Potter, who bagged the same honour in both the individual and the mixed team relay, as well as Bergere, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Yee, who added the mixed relay bronze to his individual gold.
Podium Racing, the Team acquired by a group of investors led by Podium Racing supremo John Anthony, and partnered with four-time triathlon World Champion Tim Don, as a founding partner and its team manager, look a highly competitive unit.
Don has proven himself to be the most successful manager in supertri, securing two of the three Teams titles so far - and he is sticking to a winning formula.
From his victorious 2023 Eagles team he has retained Jeanne Lehair, a real contender for the Women’s League, and Fanni Szalai, the 16-year-old he has mentored since she burst onto the global stage with supertri. He has added to that a former Eagle in Vittoria Lopes, whose gun swim power gives them a real edge, and nabbed French star Leonie Periault, who has so much experience.
In the men’s he has kept hold of Leo Bergere, the defending supertri champion and now Olympic bronze medallist, and Matt Hauser, the Australian who has been a supertri ever-present since the start, and is so desperate to win an individual title. He has then made two shrewd moves, recruiting World Champion Dorian Coninx, who works so well alongside compatriot Bergere and Kenji Nener, who is not only vastly experienced in supertri but a real team player and workhorse.
The big question for Don is whether he can keep the men all happy, with three of the four definitely having eyes on the Men’s League title.
Podium Racing Founder, John Anthony, said: “This international roster is composed of the best athletes in our sport while also giving next generation athletes like Fanni Szalai and John Reed the opportunity to compete at the highest level. With Tim Don’s leadership, we’re bullish about this season.”
