Supertri will partner with vélôToulouse to offer a unique wave for only 20 participants at Supertri Toulouse - and raise vital funds for the Oncopole, the Toulouse regional cancer care and research facility.

In collaboration with JCDecaux and Tisséo Collectivités, Supertri Toulouse today launches an XS race, designed in collaboration with vélôToulouse to inspire people to take up triathlon, whether they are regular athletes, beginners, or simply curious to discover it in a friendly atmosphere.

Its format is intentionally accessible: a 400m swim in the Garonne, a 10km bike ride exclusively on Toulouse bikes on roads completely closed to traffic, then a 2.5km run.

All proceeds from this race on October 4 will be donated to Oncopole, the Toulouse regional cancer care, research, and training center, whose expertise combines several cutting-edge clinical facilities for cancer treatment with a world-class research infrastructure. They will notably contribute to supporting the BIO-ELOV research project, led by Professors Florence Dalenc (medical oncologist and researcher at CRCT-Inserm) and Céline Colacios (researcher at CRCT-Inserm), which aims to evaluate ELOVL1, an enzyme, as a predictive biomarker of treatment response and as a new therapeutic target, paving the way for more personalised strategies against triple-negative breast cancer.

This unique event is limited to 20 participants aged 18 or over via the Supertri Toulouse registration platform. Race bibs are on sale now but are expected to sell out quickly. Two additional bibs will also be up for grabs in a contest this summer on the Instagram accounts of véloToulouse and Supertri.

A partner in sustainable mobility serving the people of Toulouse since 2007, vélôToulouse is taking on another new challenge at the event. In partnership with Tisséo Collectivités, JCDecaux is supporting amateur triathlete Judicaël Felix, who will be participating in the Supertri Toulouse Olympic distance – M format – on a Toulouse bike.

Jean -Michel Lattes, President of Tisséo Collectivités, said: “Seeing a Toulouse bike take part in an Olympic triathlon is a fantastic demonstration of what this service represents for our region: a bike accessible to all, reliable, and capable of meeting any challenge. With this initiative, we are showing that everyday mobility can also be a source of personal achievement, community spirit, and solidarity. It's a wonderful way to promote cycling and showcase the values of inclusion and commitment that drive us. We are particularly proud that this initiative is accompanied by a commitment to supporting the Toulouse Oncopole, dedicated to research and healthcare . It's a beautiful illustration of what sport, mobility, and collective action can achieve together for the benefit of our region.”

Michael D'Hulst, CEO and co-founder of Supertri, said: “Since the creation of Supertri Toulouse, our aim has been to offer more than just a sporting spectacle to the people of Toulouse and Occitanie. There are numerous opportunities for action that allow us to transmit the values of sport, promote healthy lifestyles among younger generations, and strongly support those who fight against illness every day. Our partnership with the Oncopole is therefore a great source of pride.”

Julien Martin, Regional Director for Occitanie at JCDecaux, said: “Judicaël Félix’s challenge in the Supertri Toulouse M event and the special XS event organized on vélôToulouse bikes were conceived in an exceptional, structured, and secure setting. They demonstrate that a bicycle designed for everyday urban mobility can also, on occasion, be associated with a sporting and charitable event. Alongside Tisséo Collectivités and Supertri, we are proud to place vélôToulouse at the heart of an event that inspires people to push their limits and support the Toulouse Oncopole. I warmly thank the JCDecaux teams who are committed to making these two exceptional events possible.”
