Home Hero Mislawchuk Runs To Glory At Supertri Toronto

Tyler Mislawchuk delighted his home crowd with the fastest run of the day to take victory at Supertri Toronto, the third and final regular season round of the Supertri Pro Series and the last chance for athletes to book their place at the $800,000 Final in Jersey.

One of Canada's most experienced and decorated professionals, Mislawchuk had the crowd on his side on the streets of Toronto and did not disappoint, crossing the line in 51:27 for a memorable home win.

A large lead pack came off the bike together — the top ten separated by just seconds into T2 — setting up a decisive final run. Mislawchuk had the answer, clocking the quickest run split of the day at 13:12 to break clear and win by 21 seconds.

Great Britain's Solomon Okrafo-Smart took second in 51:48, with France's Nathan Grayel completing the podium in 52:05 and his compatriot Nathan Lessmann fourth. Fifth place went to Jonathan Brownlee, the three-time Olympic medallist racing just weeks after his extraordinary Weekend Warrior record at Supertri Blenheim Palace, where he completed 10 sprint-distance triathlons across a single weekend. New Zealand's Tayler Reid, Australia's Darcy Williams and Canada's Léandre Binette followed.

Supertri Toronto was the third and final regular season race of the Supertri Pro Series. The pros competed over a sprint distance, draft-legal format. The event pays prize money 10 deep, and three athletes per gender qualified for the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey on September 6, with its $800,000 prize pool.

With Tyler Mislawchuk already qualified for the Final, the three men who claimed the last available spots were Solomon Okrafo-Smart, Nathan Grayel and Nathan Lessmann.

Supertri Toronto also formed a stage of Triathlon Canada's National Development Series, with the leading home athletes contesting a separate domestic podium.

Attention now turns to the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey on September 6, which features the richest single-day prize purse in triathlon this year.
