Supertri, the global leaders in short-course triathlon, can today announce the acquisition of the Brighton & Hove Triathlon, one of the biggest and best-loved multisport events in the UK calendar. The race will be rebranded as Supertri Brighton from 2027, becoming the second Supertri event in the UK alongside Supertri Blenheim Palace.
This year's Brighton & Hove Triathlon will run under its current brand on Sunday, September 6, delivered on the fast, flat, traffic-free seafront course that has made it a firm favourite with first-timers and seasoned athletes alike. Entries for the inaugural Supertri Brighton in 2027 will open shortly after the September 6 event.
A seafront classic with a loyal following
Staged along Hove Lawns and the famous Brighton seafront promenade, the Brighton & Hove Triathlon has grown into one of the largest and most popular events on the British triathlon calendar since its launch in the mid-2010s. From around 1,600 entrants by the end of the decade, the event has expanded steadily, selling out in both 2024 and 2025.
Its appeal lies in a fast, flat and largely traffic-free course that is ideal for beginners while still rewarding those chasing a personal best. The event offers a full range of distances — Super-Sprint, Sprint and Olympic alongside relay options and a dedicated programme of supporting races.
The event has been developed and delivered by TriBourne Multisport Events, whose team has established Brighton as a benchmark for well-run, community-focused racing on the south coast. Supertri will make some exciting announcements about the event’s future under its ownership in the coming weeks.
A natural fit for Supertri
The acquisition strengthens Supertri's fast-expanding portfolio of festival-style short-course events across North America and Europe. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in London, Supertri stages premium mass-participation triathlons in iconic city and landmark venues, and in 2026 introduced a unified race model that brings professional and amateur athletes together at the same venues, on the same courses.
Brighton joins a portfolio that already includes two of the world's five largest short-course triathlons by participation — Supertri Chicago and Supertri Blenheim Palace. As Supertri's second UK event, Supertri Brighton complements the landmark setting of Blenheim Palace with a vibrant, urban, seafront experience, broadening the brand's reach in one of triathlon's most engaged national markets.
The addition supports Supertri's stated ambition to grow participation in the sport, welcome more first-time triathletes, and build a resilient, long-term commercial foundation for short-course racing.
Supertri CEO and Co-Founder, Michael D’hulst, said: "Brighton is exactly the kind of event we love at Supertri — a fast, spectacular course, a brilliant atmosphere, and a community that has grown around it year after year. It's already one of the best triathlons in the UK, and our job is to protect everything people love about it while giving athletes even more reason to line up. Adding a second UK event alongside Blenheim Palace is a big moment for us, and we can't wait to welcome the Brighton community into the Supertri family in 2027."
